Event Details
Facilitators: Each Tipping Point Cohort is facilitated by
an experienced, practicing classroom teacher who invites you into their
classroom through video observation at each session.
Groups:
Grade-level Cohorts
will launch next fall for teachers in K, 1, 2, 3 and 4th grades. Only 8-10
participants in each group.
Meetings: Each group begins with an
orientation meeting on a Saturday and then meets monthly for 5 more
sessions on Thursdays after school. Healthy snacks are provided at every session.
Schedule: Cohort members will depend upon one another to attend all 6 sessions to ensure continuity and quality. Specific Fall 2010 schedule will be announced soon.
Location:
The
Learning Community, Central Falls, RI (5 minutes North of Providence, RI)
Credits: Get CEUs and credit toward your I-Plan.
Fee: $900
per participant for all 6 sessions, units of study, other materials and access to on-line community. $100 discount for early
bird registration.

The Learning Community
The
Learning Community is a vibrant public elementary school serving
children and families from Central Falls, Providence and Pawtucket,
Rhode Island. The Learning Community has a poverty rate of 88% and nearly 80% of our students read at the national benchmark. We are a K-8 school and currently serve 400 children through grade 6.
At the Learning Community, we believe that literacy empowers each
individual to have a voice, assume community responsibility and take
social action. We expect leadership at every level. We grow teacher
leaders, student leaders and community leaders.
